What could make the weekend more exciting?
How about if everything you did was FREE? One of my favorite words.
How could you possible turn down FREE FUN FAMILY FRIENDLY things to do this Saturday? Your pockets will stay full, your shoulders lighter and your heart smiling, It's hard to say no to FREE! So here we go....
* Let's start of with something free to do this evening.
Lots of Towns are sponsoring First Fridays as a way to promote volunteering and giving back to the community. At First Friday in Lansdale, Pa, they are promoting giving back, the United Way , at which my dad actively volunteers. This is a family friendly event so there will be fun for everyone, including live music, inflatable for the kids. The YMCA will provide Winnie the Pooh and Tigger and have live Disney music for the kids. There will be promotion of community volunteering. A great time to get involved.
On Saturday, the fun continues in Lansdale at Lansdale Day with the Antique and Arts Festival Day Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, highlights would include the Antique Arts Festival, a Community Marketplace and Pet Alley. Also enjoy food from local restaurants, live entertainment and fun activities throughout the day. Fun for everyone. I know there are also First Friday events happening in Doylestown, The Delaware Art Museum, and Haddonfield just to name a few.
On the other side of the bridge, Merchantville is holding its Merchantville's Birthday Celebration, Saturday June 5th at the Merchantville Community Center from 10am to 3pm. Enjoy this day filled with Family friendly things to do for the kids including games, rides, a petting zoo, eats and Treats. Food from local restaurants and local vendors will be on hand as well. And don't forget about Fridays when Merchantville holds it's weekly Farmers Market!
These just ideas from two opposite sides of Philadelphia. Looking for fun things to do in your area. Check your township or Borough's website, it usually includes a list of community events. These are a great way to get involved and support local economy! If you know of something fun to do that your township is offering, let me know and I'll post it on my site!
* Perfect for the little worker bee in your life. The Home Depot is featuring their Kid's Workshops at stores around the country this Saturday from 9am to noon. Bring your kids to this free workshop. Teach them tool safety while they build a take home project and let them make a mess somewhere else. No clean-up required. This would be a great event for the hubby to take the kids to, but if that happens, I doubt you'll get out of the store for free. These workshops are offered on a monthly basis and you can even purchase some of the family fun kits on their website, instructions included! Please call your local store to make sure their event is still up and running.
* The creative juices don't flow so easy with me when it comes to crafts. So, why not put the ideas in someone else's hands? This Saturday from 11am to 3:00pm take your children to your local Lakeshore Learning Store and make Paper Sunglasses. Watch as they have a great time decorating this super cute craft with pom-poms, gemstones and glitter and be happy that you don't have to clean it up! Everyone has fun at Lakeshore! Tip: If you don't think you can get out of the store without a purchase, check out their website and print off a great coupon to get at least $10 off a purchase of $50 or more!
*I think this is a great idea. If you take the train into Philadelphia, you can get free tours of some of the cities attractions, such as The Philadephia Airport, The Kimmel Center and The Academy of Music. I would call in advance to make sure there is a tour going on, but what a great way to save some cash and see the sites!
*This one is hard to resist. After taking your kid to one of the free events listed above, the park or just because you were driving by and you heard it's FREE, hop on over to your local Friendly's for Free Ice Cream Day, this Saturday from noon to 5pm. Yummmmm.......!!!!!!
This will be a monthly post, my First Fridays will focus on FREE stuff to do. Know of something FREE to do in your area? Let me know, and I'll post it!
