Time for Change

While I am not usually the News Years Resolution maker, I figure why wait until New Years what you can change today, I am needing a jump start on my goals, so here I am, nearing the stroke of midnight, kids in bed and hubby working hard at the hospital, sitting at the computer spilling my goals to the blog world. There are many things I would like to work on, but as I have found in the past, too many goals plus too much to work on equals a big heap of overwhelming feelings and nothing gets accomplished. So as 2011 nears, I will pick 4 simple straight forward things I would like to work on in the new year. I know some of these things are not goals but more of changing a way of thinking, but sometimes that's all one needs to make a difference.

1. Worry Less. Not  that I know I would be able to cut this all out at once, but I will repeat this to myself every morning, that I... "Be granted to serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference". I don't want to waste time and energy worrying about the things that can't change, but to accept them, deal with them and move on.

2. Patience. I want to have more patience in dealing with my children. Not that I am not patient, I have learned a ton of patience since having kids, but since having the third I tend to get a bit more frustrated, because things get more challenging much much faster. Rather reacting quickly when I feel the frustration setting in, I'd like to take a deep breath, take a couple seconds to think about the situation and then deal with it.

3.Organization. I'd love to be more organized in 3 categories, closets, coupons and daily schedules. My closets are a mess, my coupons scattered and often I am late or forgetting daily schedules. For the coupons, I found a great site on how to organize them, in a booklet, for the daily schedule, I started putting them in my phone and using a dry erase board calendar in the kitchen helps with scheduling appointments and looking ahead. And as far as the closets go, let's just say, one at a time, working from the downstairs up.

4. Lose 18lbs, before swimsuit season. That baby weight from the third baby is like a stubborn pig. And with teething and my 2 other kids. Finding the time can at times be challenging, but I really need to stop the hand to mouth disease, eat healthier and set a goal of working out one hour a day 5 times a week. I can do this. Right? I want to feel comfortable with my body again and rock a swimsuit like I used to. I refuse to be a victim to the baby weight. Pre- baby weight goal will be reached by beach season.

5. BLOG! And I'm getting back to blogging. I love writing and I love connecting and I got so busy with the kids, I wasn't making time for blogging. So, here I am getting back to what I love, but no pressure, to have the post in by 7am and have it be something super perfect. But take 30 minutes during the day, when I get the chance and write, write from the heart and what I feel, but no pressure. So I am participating in 2011 Blog Dare on Bloggy Moms to help me get inspire and motivated! Nothing wrong with a little push and a great group of women to push on with!

  2. I like the idea of starting small but that way you have items on your list that are measurable and you won't feel overwhelmed. Here's to 365 days and counting to make it happen!

I'm also participating in the Blog Dare! mamalocs.blogspot.com

  5. For organization, I use cozi.com because it sends out text message reminders to our family members when they have something coming up on their schedule and you can check your grocery lists, etc from your phone too. I love it. Hopefully it could help you too. I am also a big fan of flylady.net when it comes to organization and doing everything in 15 minute baby steps :)
