I love my iPod. I listen to it while, I work out and even play it over the speakers while doing laundry. It is perfect for car rides. It eliminates the mundane repeated songs you hear over and over again in the car. And it allows you to make play lists so your children don't learn the words to some of those mundane songs they shouldn't be listening to or even worse singing out loud. My current car does not have a port of my MP3 player so I had to buy one that plugs into my lighter that is flimsy, unpredictable and broadcasts through radio stations that may change every couple miles.
The Chevy Traverse on the other hand, has USB port in a compartment on the top of the dashboard that is sleek and unnoticeable.
The compartment contains a soft surface that fits any size MP3 player or iPod and hides the player and the USB cord you use to hook it up.
It also doesn't rely on the accessibility of a radio station. Through the touch screen, there is an AUX category that plays and broadcasts your music, by artist, song, randomly and by playlist, which is nice. So my son's request to hear his favorite song on the way to school, my daughter's demands to sing along to her favorite preschool tune or my desire to play songs that I like and ones I don't mind them singing out loud to in public, all taken care of by the Traverse.
Oh and did I mention, it's not just songs you can download and broadcast, you can also broadcast, apps, shows, and movies.
Keep yourself and you kids entertained on those long trips.
There are also some great apps you can download onto your iPod/MP3 for your Chevrolet. Download, the new MyChevrolet App for iPhone and you can locate your nearest dealer, schedule routine maintenance and contact roadside assistance quickly and easily. Mark parking spots and set parking meter alarms with Chevy's helpful Find My Car feature. All with the power of Google Maps. And yes, remote start your vehicle, control the door locks, check the diagnostics and more from nearly anywhere, there's an app for that too, the OnStar MyLink* app.
I had no idea.
Nice.
Now only if my kids came with an App.
The Philly Mom’s Time Out campaign is being sponsored by the Philadelphia Area Chevy Dealers who gave the chosen bloggers a 2011 Chevy Traverse to test drive for one month and blog about our experiences using the vehicle. Philly Mom’s Time Out has given us some fun missions to go on and and will be providing us with gifts cards to allow us to do so. All opinions are my own.
